Sound miracle of improvisation

The Ko-ta-mo is a mixture of three different instruments: Koto, Tambura and Monochord. The monochord goes back to Pythagoras and is therefore of European origin, the Tambura is an Indian accompanying instrument and the Koto is a Japanese melody instrument.

The way of playing is relatively simple. From the very first moment you can coax beautiful sounds out of the instrument.

Of course, you can also combine the Kotamo with classical instruments such as guitar or violin, which often creates completely new sound spaces and ideas.

The three instruments can be played excellently at the same time. You can play the fundamental note on the tambura and the monochord with your left hand and play melodies on the koto with your right hand at the same time. If you tune the koto so that all the notes match the fundamental note, you can improvise completely freely and without having to think.

FAQ

Is there a warranty on the instruments?

Yes, we offer a 3-year warranty on all instruments. However, damage is so rare that we still offer free repairs later on if the fault is ours.

What is the difference between Premium and Standard interface?

The premium finish is oiled three to four times, sanded, and polished. This makes it even more robust, giving it a very smooth surface and a slightly stronger shine. We recommend this treatment to anyone who plans to transport the instrument frequently.
The standard surface is only oiled and polished once, but still has absolutely sufficient, long-lasting protection and a beautiful, smooth surface.

Why are shipping costs not included?

Since we ship all instruments worldwide, and shipping costs vary greatly depending on the country, we cannot generally include shipping costs in the basic price of the instruments.

Are the instruments insured during shipping?

Yes, we insure the instruments and take care of any damage. If your shipment arrives damaged, please immediately send us a photo of the box and the damage to the instrument.
